More Exercise Is NOT Better… Wait… What?!?!

That is correct, more exercise does not mean you will achieve greater results.

Today’s media has brainwashed us into thinking that the more exercise we do the greater results we will accomplish.  I am sorry (happy) to say that research has shown time and time again that it is not the volume of exercise that is important, rather the intensity.  Think of it like this, if you are to run a marathon, you simply could not sprint the whole distance, you would die out very early in the race.  Same goes for resistance training, if you have a ton of volume, you simply cannot apply the intensity required to drive efficient results, the fact is you have to pace yourself.

As intensity increases, time (volume) must decrease and as time (volume) increases, intensity will therefore decrease.

Basically if you have the time to spend 6 days a week doing 10 sets of bench among 10 sets of each other body part, go for it.  I am here to inform you that you can achieve the same results by simply increasing your intensity on one SINGLE set to fatigue. You will notice your results do not suffer, they may actually increase, and that you have extra time to do the things you love!  Although, these workouts are not for the faint of heart, they are uncomfortable, but its important to remember it is MOMENTARY discomfort.

Do yourself a favor… RECOVER!
